A feasibility study is presented in this research for the Solar Power TowerPlant (SPTP) in the southern region of Libya . The proposed location for thisplant was evaluated and selected as a most suitable place for this plant . Thepresent situation and the future perspective for electricity energy in Libya wasanalyzed. With the help of the software System Advisor Model (SAM)a modelling for two cases of central receiver system were executed . The firstcase which has been simulated was a SPTP with gross capacity of 100 MWwith no storage system. The other case was for SPTP with gross capacity of 50MW and 8 hours storage capacity. The main purpose of this work is toevaluate the potential of SPTP utilization to cover a part of the electricitydemand in Libya. The results of two cases comparison have proven that theplant with a storage system is feasible economically and there is a highpotential for the SPTP utilization as an alternative energy source to contributein supply a part of the electricity energy needs in Libya with no fuelconsumption and no carbon dioxide emission.
