Özet

Removal of toxic organic materials discarded with textile waste waters tosurrounding area is of great importance for environmental remediation. Amongthese methods, advanced oxidation process (AOP), which enables the degradationof organic pollutants by oxidation, has attracted great interest in recent years. In thismethod, it is aimed to remove organic pollutants by means of light and catalyst.Semiconductor TiO2 and ZnO nanoparticles are usually used as catalysts in suchprocesses. However, the difficulties in separating nanoscale particles at the end ofthe process make it necessary to develop new approaches.For this reason, the production of materials which are more efficient and easy toproduce and allow the catalyst to be used again is of great importance. In thisdirection conductive polymers are very interesting materials because of their easyproduction and high photocatalytic activity potential. It is also seen as a suitablematerial for magnetic separation, which can be an alternative to expensive,laborious, and difficult to apply large volumes of pollutants such as filtration andcentrifugation.vThe aim of this work is to produce more active photocatalysts than semi-conductorbase catalysts under UV light with magnetic properties. In this direction, PEDOTbased nanocomposite material (SiO2-CoFe2O4/PEDOT-AgNPs) is prepared as aconductive polymer containing magnetic cobalt ferrite (SiO2-CoFe2O4) and silvernanoparticles (AgNPs). The activity of the obtained nanocomposite material wasinvestigated in the removal of methylene blue known as a model dye contaminantunder UV irradiation. In addition, the catalytic activities of the TiO2 nanoparticle,PEDOT and SiO2-CoFe2O4/PEDOT structures were also investigated todemonstrate the increase in catalytic activity systematically.Detailed characterizations of the prepared particles were performed with highresolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), scanning electronmicroscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) and inductively coupled plasmaoptical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES).With the results obtained, it has been proved that the new material prepared is moreefficient than the semiconductor based catalysts. The added magnetic propertyallows the catalyst to be separated from the medium without the need for complexseparation methods.
